DEVELOPMENT
Development Permits are required for driveways, new buildings, demolition, shoreline modifications, tree removal and Holding Tank Installations. Fines will be levied and Stop Work Orders posted if this is not adhered to. Development Permits are available online or can be picked up at the Summer Village Office. If you are not sure if a development permit is required, please click on the Land Use Bylaw #180, the Development Permit Application, or contact the Development Officer at 780-586-2494.
***Holding Tank Installs-the Summer Village Quality Management Plan requires that all new holding tanks MUST be inspected by Superior Safety Codes prior to being backfilled, so please have your Certified Installer coordinate a date with them to be on site. Failure to do so could result in the holding tank being dug back up for an Inspection***

Additionally, Safety codes permits are required for building, demolition, electrical, plumbing and gas. These permits must be obtained from Superior Safety Codes Inc.@ 1-888-358-5545 or @ 403-358-5545 once your Development Permit has been approved. Please call Road Data for road permitting information or questions @ 888-444-9288 (6:30 am- 8:00 pm, 7 days a week). You can also check out their website at www.roadata.com. Permitting generally requires: company name, hauling truck plate, start location, end location, route, commodity they are hauling, configuration (truck steer/drive/trailer), axle weights (steer, drive jeep/trailer/booster) and overall dimensions (height, length, width, effective rear overhang). Fees generally start at $22.00 and up depending on what the client is requiring.
